Sino-French Friendship Highlighted in SWUPL
(Chongqing, Oct. 20) 90 members of a French social youth worker delegation paid a visit to SWUPL’s new campus shortly after their arrival in the city, indicating a start of the visitors’ Chongqing acquaintance.
The school welcomed the fellows under direction of Mr. with an interactive program for collective ideas exchange. Additionally, the French comers were impressed with the later staged traditional Chinese dancing , renowned Peking opera, classical Yue opera and puzzling Sichuan opera.
The ongoing cross-border project was said to be given birth by a meeting held between
two countries’ top officials not long before.
A Travel To the East
(Seoul, Jul. 16) 20 granted(qualified, high achieved, model) undergraduate students of SWUPL arrived in Seoul, capital of S. Korea, unveiling a 12-day’s experience to the country.
Led by 2 counselor, the summer exchange group was to be primarily engaged in comprehensive research and study on the development of Korean Intellectual Property Law and Labor Law, education of lawyers the judicial system, urban planning, new countryside international transportation and port construction, management of modern company and such.
The activity was intended to internationally increase the school’s academic influence and expand students’ knowledge of different kind.
(Xiamen, Jul. 19) 54 singers of SWUPL student Chorus flied to Xiamen competing with some 400 others worldwide in the 4th WORLD CHOIR GAMES, previously known as "Choir Olympics”
During the 12-day event, the chorus grace performance of 4 songs showed high accomplishments and won approval from audience as well as judges. Finally, a high score of 15.96 secured them a silver medal along with extensive applause from other participants. Besides, Malaysia and Malta extended sincere invitations to the choir for a series of international events.
Team snatches Second inthe Fifth "Challenge Cup"
Oct. 17, in name of “Chongqing Three- star New Countryside Investment Management Limited”,SWUPL entrepreneurial team gained second prize in The Fifth “Challenge Cup” Business Plan Competition. With “three-star construction model” as subject, which provides better solutions to current problems met druing the construction of new socialist countryside, their extraordinary performance won generous acclaim and praises from Shangdong University, Agriculture Uniersity of SouthChina and other participators as well as judges. The event held in Shangdong University is a PHILIPS-sponsored contest for Chinese college students exhibiting their entrepreneurial potential and skills.
Principal Appointment and Removal Announced
During a cadre-attending conference convened on the evening Oct. 10, a decision about appointing Chen Bin and removing Long Zongzhi as SWUPL principal was made. The announcement came directly from Ma rupei, standing member and head of the Organization Department of municipal CPC committee.
SWUPL Gloried in Beach Volley
From July 9 to July 12, The Second China College Students Beach Volley Game took place in city of Qinhuang Island. As the only team from Chongqing, our school made their way into cross elimination without a failure. The top three of last game were smitten with the same 2 to nil by SWUPL. In the final, our team turned the tables against Tianjin Science and Technology University with a lose in the first set. The champion title would gave SWUPL a passport for World University Students Beach Volley Game 2006
A Heart Shaped by 600 Freshmen
To express gratitude to their teachers, 600 SWUPL freshmen shaped a “heart” with their bodies on the 22th Teachers’ Day in China, within which also stood a “teacher” character .
The freshmen 2006, as the new blood to SWUPL, have undergone a military training of 18 days during which their vigor, perseverance and unbending spirit was fully dispayed.
Legal Practice Course
The launch of Legal Practice Course (LPC) was marked by the forum on October 11 which is jointly held by SWUPL LPC Office, Graduate Department and Alumni Association Office.
It was said that the LPC is designed to bridge the gap between academic study of the law and the practical training, create a platform for students to learn from the successful people with a variety of practice backgrounds. As SWUPL is expericed in providing legal practice course , SWUPL is hoped to be developed into the most prestigous LPC base in China under the support of the alumni and the school authority.
SWUPL alumnus Luo Lin, now secretary of Committee of Political Science and Law in Beibei District, Chongqing, stressed the imprtance of specialty in personal development. Fu Zitang, deputy president of SWUPL also commented that LPC focuses on the students’ abilities development. To achieve the goal, new methods will be introduced and the alumni in the legal profession invited as directors as they have input in helping students make the transition into professional legal practice.”
